As the Superintendent of Klein ISD schools, I am writing to offer my support for the incredible work of the Angel Paws Program and the meaningful impact it continues to make within our Klein ISD community.
Angel Paws provides far more than companionship through animals; the program creates opportunities for connection, healing, and personal growth for those it serves. Their care is evident in every interaction and activity, making a meaningful difference for Klein ISD students, staff, and families.
While Angel Paws supports campuses throughout Klein ISD, one outstanding example of the organization's impact within our school district is its partnership with Schultz Elementary, the first campus in Klein ISD to welcome Angel Paws. Through its reading program, select students have the opportunity to read aloud to well-trained therapy dogs, helping students improve reading fluency while simultaneously building confidence and self-esteem.
Over the years, Angel Paws has expanded its support beyond the reading program by participating in a variety of campus activities and initiatives. The organization has visited during professional development days to promote staff wellness and self-care, attended "Meet the Teacher" events to help comfort students who may feel nervous about starting school or being away from their parents, and participated in Career Day presentations to educate students about the training and testing dogs complete to become part of a pet therapy program.
Angel Paws has been deeply valued and appreciated as a partner. In addition to their everyday involvement, they have been present during the most challenging moments in our school community, offering compassion and emotional support when needed most. Their kindness and service reflect the very best of community partnership and volunteerism.

“Angel Paws has been a crucial part of our Parent's Night Out ministry for the last 5 years. They have been on board with our vision from the start to provide a safe, fun environment for foster and adoptive children, and the calming, comforting presence of the dogs is a key component. One of our first lines of defense when a child becomes dysregulated or feels uncomfortable is to visit the Angel Paws room! Their human counterparts are absolutely wonderful as well. Students feel safe, supported, and accepted when reading to the Angel Paws dogs because the animals provide a completely judgment-free audience. For many participants, the Angel Paws dogs become trusted companions who help them feel valued, capable, and successful.”

The dogs do remember us and we love having them over.
